Bye-bye, apartment!

I'm completely moved out of my old place now. I gave the carpet one last vacuum and turned in the keys this morning. It was a good place, at least until the creepy naked guy showed up. I'll miss having a branch of the library so close to me. I'm glad to be done with it, though. The final cleanup part of the move was most annoying. Of course, I'm not really done moving yet, since we both have oodles of boxes all over the house right now. I'm hoping we can take care of that during September.

I hate moving

All my furniture is in the new place, but I still have to haul a lot of small stuff over from the old apartment. Finishing the job is the most annoying part of the move, I think. I just want it to be done! I don't want to have to go out of my way to pick up my drygoods and bakeware. Bleh!

Knitting explosion!

Dude! This article tells the story of a woman whose knitting needle exploded. Take a look at the picture!

Low security passcode

I live in a gated apartment complex. You have to enter a four digit code on a keypad to open the gate at night. The other night, on a whim, I tried entering 1234 instead of my own self-selected code. It actually worked! Come on people, can't you think of something a little better than that? I'm willing to bet that a large percentage of those security keypads will open with that code. Given a large enough population behind the gate, the odds of someone picking a totally lame passcode become really high. Now I find myself wondering: how many people choose 1234 as their ATM PIN?

Gradually letting go...

I've been taking my stuff over to the new place a few boxes at a time, slowly dismantling my nest of an apartment. This weekend we're renting a truck to haul my furniture, and then I'll actually be living in the house, too. It all feels so strange. I'm glad we found a three bedroom house. I'm used to having my own space and we both have a lot of stuff. I've already called assigned one of the closets to yarn storage.

I need a bit of a stretch break, so I think I'll mosey on over to the post office and fill out a change of address card.

It's the rainy season.

Pouring rain here. It makes quite a racket on the roof of my trailer. I need
to go shopping for shoes tonight, but I'm not going to head out until the
rain ends. What we lack in quantity, we make up for in intensity. It's as if
the drops were being hurled down from the sky.

Moving stuff

I need to contact PNM to notify them I am moving out this month. I also must transfer my phone service. Fortunately, Qwest has an online service for me to do that, athough it looks like I won't get to keep the same phone number at the new place.
