Happy Pi Day!

I admit to changing the post time to get more digits.

3.14159 -- a number I can never forget, thanks to my HS Algebra teacher who taught us the Purdue engineer's chant:

E to the x, Dy Dx; E to the x, Dx
Cosine, secant, tangent, sine
Three point one four one five nine
Square root, cube root, BTU Slipstick, slide rule, Yea, Purdue!

We did in fact use slide rules, which I know most students today would put in a museum right next to an abacus.

But alas, I missed recognizing Pi day. How careless of me.

i just finished what i think is my third pair of socks based on widdershins. You can catch up with the latest ones on my blog http://www.knitknitfrog.blogspot.com/
I started with a pair for me, then one (modified for size) for my 4 year old daughter, and the latest is for my 'man'. I know there are others out there with toe up 'trad heel sock' patterns, but yours was the first to make sense. And given I think EZ is one of the knitting gods, your use of maths prompted me to work out the vairations to make widdershins in different sizes.

thanks heaps.

Pi is irrational number, and there are so-many approximate formula it. Unfortunately until 2500 years after archimedes we don’t still know what is the exact formula for the pi, so we only celebrate it as pi day. thank you for posting and sharing it.
